ABSTRACT

In many ways, the author says she fell perfectly into that tired stereotype of the college girl who “dabbles,” who experiments with other girls before turning her attention to seriously dating men. She identifies herself as bisexual, but did not always, and she began a serious relationship with another woman before she adopted this label. The process of discovering her sexuality presented two big problems: her suspicion that she could be attracted to women as well as men; there was no big realization, no moment of self-reflection where everything fell into place as she accepted her identity. Two tenets she has held as her most important principles: live honestly, and do the right thing even if it scares you. It was her relationship with her girlfriend that further cemented for her the importance of these tenets, first imparted to her by her family.
