ABSTRACT
This chapter explains the essential nature of writing for planners. It also explains how to identify objectives, scopes, and audiences early in the writing process. It contains an overview of word choice and organizing documents, as well as guidance for rewriting and editing documents. Beyond just explaining the typical planning documents, it also provides the structure of academic research papers. Finally, the chapter contains two exemplary articles written by planners.
