ABSTRACT

Products in our local stores come from all over the world, and the prices on those products give us clues about the people that helped make them. In this inquiry, students use everyday products locally and globally as sources of evidence to learn about the world. Students organize prices for research for products, make predictions, and even create their own products for an in-school Market Day that reflect the characteristics of a place they studied. This inquiry ultimately provides teachers and scholars with an opportunity to use common products as evidence in the inquiry process, with a special focus on the unique types of evidence that can be used when teaching economic concepts.
