ABSTRACT

The process of designing and building or extending a most valuable asset is likely to be a nerve-racking experience. Unless the project is very simple, it makes sense to at least talk to an architect for advice before the client gets going. Architects are highly skilled and professionally trained to turn the client's aspirations into reality. They will guide clients through the design, planning and construction process whether the clients are constructing a new building or adapting an existing property. All architects comply with rigorous codes of conduct set by the Architects Registration Board and the Royal Institute of British Architects. The five-year university training teaches architects how to interpret a brief and develop a range of design options that meet it, working with their client to find the one that best suits their aspirations. Architects apply impartial and creative thinking to projects large and small, whether you are constructing, adapting or expanding a building.
