ABSTRACT
Only architectural practices that meet strict eligibility criteria can register as a RIBA Chartered Practice. They comply with strict criteria covering insurance, health and safety and quality management systems. RIBA Chartered Practices are the only architectural practices endorsed and promoted by the RIBA. The requirements for RIBA Chartered Practice membership includes: at least one of the practice’s full-time principals must be an RIBA Chartered Member and on the ARB register; all of the practice’s architectural work must be supervised by an RIBA Chartered Member who is on the ARB register; and at least one in eight of all staff employed in the practice must be on the ARB register, or an Associate Member of the RIBA or a CIAT member with RIBA Affiliate Membership. The Code of Practice for RIBA Chartered Practices comprises three principles of professional conduct and practice—honesty/integrity, competence, and relationships—and the professional values that support those principles.
