Introduction

This chapter introduces the state of masculinity studies in the world. It comments on and links the subsequent chapters. As an overview of the volume which documents and shares evidence, insights and direction on how men and boys can constructively contribute to gender equality in the twenty-first century, it sets the stage for future intellectual engagement with and activist intervention in the field of global masculinities.
