ABSTRACT

"A deeply depressed 67-year-old woman suffering from a very painful atypical facial neuralgia that did not fit into any clear medical diagnosis was referred for a psychiatric consultation. After discussing her symptoms she described a recent X-ray which had revealed that a small bullet was lodged in her skull. She explained that this had brought back to her the memory that at the age of 16 she had shot herself in the mouth. When asked why she had done such a tiling she just shrugged her shoulders and said 'I don't know. I was angry I suppose, so I got the gun and shot myself. Just being childish'."
