ABSTRACT

The group of programs in the Open Access Project may be used to generate and test psychoanalytic hypotheses. They also provide a quantitative basis for evaluating hypotheses already in the literature. Under Bob's direction, the Directors of the Fund worked hard to establish enduring procedures as people simultaneously reviewed specific research applications. The extracted data in the Open Access Project are free from all risks of breaching confidentiality because not only the identities of both patient and analyst, but also the clinical material itself, are completely obscured. Once a transcript leaves the hands of the treating clinician, there is no guarantee that confidentiality will not be compromised. The database can be easily manipulated and studied by anyone using a personal computer. Carpenter interprets this "type-token ratio" generally as indicating a change in the level of cautiousness or evasiveness.
