ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. The book is based on presentations delivered at that Festschrift, which has posed a challenge in transforming those addresses into written versions. It begins with David Campbell's overview of the history of his own systemic thinking and practice in interaction with its development in the UK context. The book concerns supervision and training. It describes exciting international interchanges with David Campbell and Ros Draper and depicts their parallel developments of a dialogic and decentred position as therapists, and their commitment to this ethical stance. The book discusses the impact on Barry Mason's therapeutic and supervisory practice of the centrality placed by David on the importance of feedback. It describes the process of the development of the ideas, including positions Marianne Grønbæk and David took in relation to each other's ideas.
