ABSTRACT
Yesterday Mr Lewis. Roby, one of the relieving officers of the Whitechapel Union, applied to Mr. Selfe at the Thames Police-court, for a warrant to apprehend Samuel Spurling, late a recruiting sergeant, who married an Irish woman named Ellen Readdy, the widow of a soldier named Patrick Readdy, on the 9th inst., and after beating her, abandoned her the day after the marriage.
