ABSTRACT

Article 13 of the Constitution of the Republic of China, promulgated in 1947, guarantees religious freedom for all in Taiwan. The state does not establish any state religion, and all religions are equally treated. In public schools, based on the principle of separation of church and state and the equal treatment of religion, the state must maintain religious neutrality. Therefore, officials in public schools actually cannot provide religious education about a particular religion but they can offer general education in different classes about religion to help students understand religion.
