ABSTRACT

The Bank’s unit of account is the Islamic Dinar, which is equivalent to the value of one Special Drawing Right of the International Monetary Fund. In March 2020 the Bank issued a formal statement on the COVID-19 pandemic, in which it expressed deep concern at the related fatalities, strain on national health systems and disruptive socioeconomic impacts. The IsDB’s Member Country Partnership Strategy, initiated in 2010, aims to strengthen dialogue with individual member countries and to contribute more effectively to their medium- and long-term development plans. The 14th IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance was convened, on the sidelines of the Bank’s 44th annual meeting with the theme ‘Developing smart economies for sustainable development’. In October 2015 the IsDB and the WBG concluded an agreement on a Strategic Partnership Framework. The IsDB awards an annual prize rewarding women’s contribution to development.
