ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to describe the role of professional associations at national and international levels, particularly that of Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) and their relationship with each other. It will also discuss the registration of occupational therapy practitioners in Australia and the bodies that participate in the process of registration, and describe the accreditation of occupational therapy education programs and assessment of internationally qualified occupational therapists. It will also demonstrate the importance of professional and regulatory bodies to occupational therapists and the interrelationship between these organisations and practitioners.
