ABSTRACT

The evolution in the field of PV systems always has been regarded from a technological point of view improving components and technical system performance but until now very few steps have been undertaken towards a better assistance to the end user. This assistance has been limited to some advice and user manuals but in most of the cases the lack of user's knowledge about "his power plant" made it difficult to achieve an optimal operation of the PV systems. For this reason, user training in the fields of operation of the PV stand-alone system as well as rational use and management of the energy available is a determinant factor for optimal use and enlarged lifetime of a PV stand-alone system. On the other hand, training and assistance leads to a higher degree of user's satisfaction with his PV system and consequently to increased acceptance of PV technology in general. In this paper we present our approach in the field of user training as an important measure to increase performance and acceptance PV stand-alone systems.
