ABSTRACT
In this chapter, AGE Platform Europe present the work it has undertaken in the past years at European Union, United Nations and Council of Europe levels to raise awareness of the challenges of ageism and discrimination faced by older women and men with disabilities, which result in increased risk of elder abuse in today’s ageing population. The chapter highlights the need to reinforce the existing international human rights framework to offer adequate protection against elder abuse and respect for dignity in old age.
