ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to stimulate healthy eating have limited or even adverse effects on changing people's eating behaviour. It provides users with healthy recipes, provides the opportunity to keep a nutrition diary and supports planning healthy eating goals. The chapter introduces on why the effects of current designed interventions to changing people's eating behaviour are limited: the knowledge view, the automaticity view, the social/cultural view and the engagement view. It addresses the importance of integrating social systems and environments in interventions for healthy nutrition later in this chapter. All in all, a healthy food environment makes healthy automatic eating behaviour possible and makes it easier to engage with healthy eating without the need for infinite amounts of willpower. Well-designed interventions for healthy eating help us achieve a greater quality of life for a longer period. The Healthy Weight Assistant is an online tool aimed at adults with a healthy weight or who are slightly overweight.
