ABSTRACT

This chapter shows the conduct of an evaluation of Save the Children (SC) work on Child Rights Governance (CRG), which catalogue interventions, explore outcomes and impact, and ultimately support the identification of best practices on CRG programming. The evaluation experience has been used to highlight some of the methodological challenges faced when one might attempt to explore equity within an evaluation process and some of the possible solutions to the challenges faced. The work on CRG is classified by SC as belonging to the following themes: child rights monitoring; strengthening national systems; and building awareness and capacity. Within each of these themes, advocacy plays a central role. Similarly, SC is highly conscious of child participation and particularly so in relation to CRG activities. The evaluation conducted focused on experiences in a number of countries, and here, the focus is on the experiences from Nicaragua and Ethiopia.
