ABSTRACT
Associated with the rising economic power of China comes an increased international political responsibility. In this chapter we analyze how China’s international policies have changed over time (including economic integration and joining the WTO) and how these changes affect other regions in the world (such as Central Asia and Africa). The direction of China’s future international policies is likely influenced by the success it has in dealing with its internal demographic and inequality problems and its national and international sustainability problems.
