ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses a follow up study of assistant nurses working in the Swedish public-health sector. I suggest that the mechanisms underlying the events that took place could in large measure be understood as representing the interplay between the practices and ideologies of socio-structural life modes in modern Western society, in this particular case the worker life mode, the housewife life mode and the career life mode.
