ABSTRACT

At a meeting of the Irish Non-subscribing Presbyterian Association lately held in Belfast the followingrcsolution amongst others was passed: "That, inasmuch as several of the universities and colleges in the United Kingdom now admit women to their lecture-halls and degree examinations, we think it absolutely necessary to add to the Bill an interpretation clause to the effect that in the sections referring to pupils and stud&nts, pronouns importing the masculine gender shall be held to include females as well as males." Miss Tod also in a letter to the newspapers refers to the fact that the Committees which take charge of the examinations for women of the Dublin University and the Queen's University are moving in this matter. We must hope that Lord Cairns who has always shown himself just to women, may be able to include them in the advantages of this measure.
