ABSTRACT

The activity will allow individuals to address challenges in peer-related social groups. Children develop social and emotional intelligence through their daily interactions with the world around them. When social and emotional intelligence are learned, children typically have positive outcomes at school and at home. The activity may be used for group counseling with children and adolescents ages 8–16 years in either a school- or community-based setting. This activity may be best scheduled in the working stage of group after establishment and rapport building has occurred among group members. Group leaders will set the stage and identify the scope of the activity to group members. Group leaders will define a "challenge", and explain that challenges can be both positive and negative. The group leaders will then provide group members examples in order to promote their creative thinking.
