ABSTRACT

Song Ruoxin wrote Woman’s Analects in imitation of the An alects of Confucius. Her book was a dialogue between a Lady Song and her pupils, such as Ban Zhao, the first female historian in Chinese history. She used this dialogue as a textbook for her younger sisters to teach them how to behave. This is why, it was said, these five Song sisters were all decent, chaste, and obedient. None of them wanted to think of marriage, as they wanted to make their family known first and foremost for learning.
