ABSTRACT

One of the primary goals of stakeholders who are involved in the provision, design, and construction of safe and secure buildings in any geographic location is to ensure that the built environment is disaster-resistant. These stakeholders include architects, landscape architects, engineers, planners, construction managers, environmentalists, scientists, developers, facilities managers, code officials, fire marshals, building inspectors, national/state/city/county/local officials, emergency managers, law enforcement agencies, disaster relief organizations, civil society organizations (including Non-Governmental Organizations), the private sector, and members of the community as a whole.
