ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book shows that an approach based on the concepts of power and gender opens up new perspectives for understanding the heterogeneous patterns of rural development in Europe. It also shows that women have long been neglected and marginalized in rural areas. The book describes a lot of interesting material for a more global view of rurality in Europe in the face of power and gender. From a methodological perspective it can be concluded that more research about the conceptual relationship between power and gender is necessary in order to construct a common basis for deeper comparative research. The Budapest Declaration on Rural Innovation says that rural innovation oriented to contributing to a new societal contract in rural areas is not neutral in its origins and its outcomes.
