Fluid bed granulation is a modern alternative for prilling. It is applied to the granulation of the fertilizers urea and ammonium nitrate (AN) mainly. It comprises the upward atomization of a liquid feed into a bed of moving particles. The droplets wet the particles and crystallization takes place.
