ABSTRACT

The most underappreciated component of a wireless sensor network node is often its antenna. Most wireless sensor network nodes are designed to be physically small, with low power consumption and low product cost primary design metrics. These requirements make the design of the node’s antenna system both important and difficult. This situation is often exacerbated by the need to adjust the antenna design to fit aesthetics of the network node’s physical design, which often forces the antenna to be the last electrical component designed in the system.
