ABSTRACT

It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life, that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself. This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book discusses four checkpoints, from CONNECTING to SAFETY-NETTING, that mark out what is thought as the objective 'real' world. The closing stages of the Inner Consultation are also the first stages of a further journey, this time one that leads towards the awakening of the doctor's own heart. The learning programme in this book has lead through analysis and learning to a state where letting go of them will create for one's own Art of the Consultation. The book also presents two translated examples by Japanese poets, describing moments the consultant will recognise from his clinical experience.
