ABSTRACT

Metallurgy is one of the sectors that contribute to raising standards of living but, on the other hand, it is also a source of environmental pollution. The most utilised alcoholic biofuels are bioethanol and bio-methanol. Bioethanol (ethyl alcohol) or bio-methanol (methyl alcohol) is the fuel produced by alcoholic fermentation. The biodiesel label has been introduced for oily acid methyl esters. The raw material for biodiesel production is vegetable oil obtained from oily plants or animal fats. Biodiesel is not used in the metallurgical processes of iron and steel production either. Biological decomposition of organic substances that are the basis of biomass is a complex multistage process, where some important chemical reactions are taking place. In the energy recovery of rubber, its high energy potential is utilised by high-temperature oxidation or pyrolysis. Biomass has the highest usable potential of all renewable energy sources for metallurgical use.
