ABSTRACT

The “emergency prediction and warning system of oil spill in Bohai Sea” is an oil spill model system researched and developed by the National Marine Information Center and its role is to achieve rapid prediction and warning of oil spill pollution in the Bohai Sea. The emergency prediction and warning system of oil spill in the Bohai Sea integrates the ocean current module, ocean wave module and atmosphere module into a forecast system and performs an unattended automatic operation on the computer server. It automatically downloads the GFS background field data and global telecommunications system observation data from 0:00 every day and processes the data. At 14:00 on April 16, 2010, marine oil spill occurred at the mouth into Kiaochow Bay. The research group immediately applied the “emergency prediction and warning system of oil spill in Bohai Sea” to trace back the oil pollutants.
