ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the impact of manufacturing competencies on the strategic success of the automobile manufacturing industry through data analysis and results interpretation. The reliability index is evaluated for different sections of the questionnaire which are: manufacturing competencies, strategic success, output, and the total for the overall questionnaire. The surveyed respondents were assessed on various statements based on the parameters of the manufacturing competencies. The scope of ‘overall equipment effectiveness improvement’ was also given preference, while equal importance was for ‘Kaizen and continuous improvement’ and ‘enhanced autonomous manufacturing capabilities.’ The factors ‘communication and cooperation between team members’ and ‘effective managing process capability’ were followed at reasonable level in 31.4% of organizations, whereas 33.3% and 48.3% followed them to some extent.
