ABSTRACT

The major constraints in mariculture are Vast natural resources and numerous potential species are in India. Sea farming not picked up in India, due to lack of policy for usage of open water bodies. Therefore, demarcation of suitable areas for relatively new venture for mariculture may invite multi user conflicts. Corporate bodies earlier promoted semi-intensive farming almost withdrawn from this field As a result, financing sector not too ambitious about aquaculture projects. Substantial manpower available in India comparatively cheaper (skilled or unskilled). However, to train available human resources for capacity building to meet desired standards of knowledge & technology, considerable efforts required. Managing open sea cage culture farms one such area in which expertise is not readily available in India Mariculture farms using offshore waters classified as Land based flow through systems, Land based recirculation systems, Off shore cage farms.
