ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with these subjects in detail. System integrity will be dealt with when discussing hardware and software. A relative scale of importance could be assigned to the subjects mentioned, and a particular system selected based on the outcome. Since the available software determines the power of the system, the rating on the relative scale of importance would be higher than for the hardware. Software design and testing is usually very time consuming, and consequently a good standard software package is of extreme importance. Compile a list of problem areas and determine which of those are serious enough to bring up in discussions with the vendor. If at all possible, get problems solved as part of the standard hardware and software. Test the integrated system again for a longer period after it is installed on site and aim, for example, for a system service factor of at least 99% over a period of two months.
