ABSTRACT
Modeling-perceived distortion is a central aspect of modern lossy image and video coding systems. In fact, the limitations of the Human Visual System (HVS) in distinguishing two signals with similar spectral, temporal, or spatial characteristics can be exploited to reduce the amount of resources necessary to store or to transmit a multimedia content [21].
