ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary scientific field that is undergoing unprecedented growth at the global level. It involves the application of nanosized materials to produce products and services for the welfare of humankind (Sattler 2010). Nanomaterials usually have a size range of 1-100 nm. Nanometer-sized particles offer novel structural, optical, and electronic properties that are otherwise unattainable with individual molecules or bulk solids (Huang et al. 2011a). Nanomaterials are often used in different applications: in the pharmaceutical industry, as ceramic materials, as semiconductors, in electronics, cosmetics, water purification, and so on.
