ABSTRACT

There are three types of behaviour: aggressive behavior, passive behavior, and assertiveness. Aggression is expressing our own rights, feelings, needs and opinions with no respect for the rights and feelings of others. Passive behavior is not expressing our rights, feelings, opinions and needs. Assertiveness is being assertive allows us to engage respectfully with other people, whilst also respecting our own needs. Assertiveness involves being clear about what we feel, what we need and how it can be achieved. An important part of assertiveness is open, secure body language. Clear communication is an important part of assertiveness. Negative assertion involves agreement with criticism without letting up demand.
