ABSTRACT

Carol sat nervously in the waiting area. She knew she had ‘issues’. It hadn’t been easy to acknowledge what she was doing to herself, or at least not in a way that enabled her to see that she was doing herself harm. It had never felt like that and, in truth, it still didn’t. She did what she did because, well, because that’s what she did, and it made her feel in control. Yes, that in particular, and she liked feeling in control. It gave her lots of other feelings as well but she preferred not to think of them just at the moment.
