ABSTRACT
THE WORD “ZOMBIE” OR “zonbi” originates from the Kongo word nzambi which means “soul.” Th e transformation of people into zombies is a superstitious ritual practice in the “voodoo” or “vodou” religion and a ritual practice in Haiti, Louisiana and other places with French colonial heritage.
