ABSTRACT

Personal development plan (PDP) on the prevention and management of musculoskeletal disorders could supplement a practice personal and professional development plan on musculoskeletal disorders. Everyone needs to have the opportunity - reception staff, the practice manager, secretaries, all of the health professionals and anyone who uses premises might benefit from the prevention and management of musculoskeletal disorders. Disseminating basic information may reduce the workload of health professionals. A GP might wish to become a clinical assistant in secondary care or an intermediate care provider for the PCO. A practice nurse might wish to gain expertise in counselling people with long-term musculoskeletal problems, or in the prevention of injuries in older people. The occupational health doctor at an industrial site in practice area may be prepared to share their records, provided that they are anonymised.
