ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the type of writing that can be done for videogames that don’t require being a Narrative Designer. It covers the need for game writing to be tight and short, with every word counting. It discusses the lack of an established script format and which software is useful to know. It lists and discusses game writing jobs such as full motion video game introductions, game bibles, game backstory and game story, character biographies, quests, cutscenes, and others. It provides details examples of how variables affect writing quest dialogue and the importance of maintaining version control of writing assets. It covers writing for recorded dialogue and how to make it useful to a voice actor.
