ABSTRACT
The supercial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) ap is based on the SIEA and the supercial inferior epigastric vein (SIEV). Use of the ap was rst described by Wood (1863) as a pedicled ap for reconstruction following the release of a burns contracture to the wrist in an 8-year-old child. Antia and Buch rst described the use of the free deepithelialised ap for soft tissue reconstruction of the face (1971). Its use in breast reconstruction was introduced by Grotting (1991) and popularised by Arnez et al. (1999a,b).
