A radiopharmaceutical is a chemical containing a radioactive isotope for use in humans for the purpose of diagnosis, mitigation, or treatment of a disease. Isotopes may be defined as atoms having the same atomic number, but different masses. Isotopes may be stable and unstable. The unstable isotopes are radioactive.
