This topic is immensely complex. Let me begin by explaining what I am not going to do. I am not

going to cover Jewish decision making during the classic or biblical era of the Jewish people. Nor

am I going to cover Jewish decision making during the modern era per se (Chazan and Raphael,

1974; Graetz, 1891).
