In this chapter we will attempt to do the impossible: say something intelligent and fairly exhaustive
about three huge topics-information; information and communication technology (ICT); and their
roles in decision making. The overwhelming success of the Internet makes it obvious that infor-
mation and its associated technologies pervade every aspect of life, and that includes the decisions
we make. Despite the overwhelming breadth and depth of the topics, we will try to approach them
in a systematic way and at the same time highlight what may be some interesting cases and aspects
that may not have been recognized heretofore.
