ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we consider a few more exactly solvable models of population dynamics relevant to biological invasion. Our purpose is to take into account some features of biological invasion that have not been addressed before and to further demonstrate that exactly solvable models make a valuable contribution to modeling and understanding species invasion. Trying to keep the models “as simple as possible (but not simpler),” here we focus on single-species models described by a single partial differential equation. To obtain the exact solutions, we mostly use the methods already described in the previous chapter, with some modifications where necessary.
