ABSTRACT

Crop management has advanced to a state at which production and quality can normally be ensured in a satisfactory manner. However, new challenges for food production still exist. The goal is not only to provide food for the essential needs of humans but also to meet the new challenge of ensuring food safety and security along the supply chain. Modern consumers are interested in obtaining health benets through eating readily available foods. Recent progress in agricultural production has been made in reducing the use of pesticides and fungicides, while attempting to improve food quality and safety to human health. Phytochemicals and vitamins are just some examples of desirable food attributes.
