ABSTRACT

B. The fire alarm subcontractor will provide a circuit to the elevator machine room, which will be terminated by the elevator subcontractor in the elevator control panel. This circuit will be commissioned via a collaborative effort between the elevator and fire alarm subcontractors. The purpose of this connection is to signal the elevator when the fire alarm has been activated anywhere in the building. After the alarm is given, the elevator controller will

switch to emergency recall mode and automatically bring the elevator to the main building level, termed the primary recall floor. The elevator will then open the doors to allow anyone who is in the elevator at the time of the alarm out of the building in the most expedient manner possible. (If the alarm happens to have occurred in the elevator lobby on the primary recall floor the fire alarm system will signal the elevator to ferry the passengers to a secondary recall floor, usually the second floor.)

C. The telecom subcontractor will provide a dedicated telephone line to the elevator machine room for the emergency phone in the elevator cab. Similar to the fire alarm connection, this will be terminated in the elevator control panel by the elevator subcontractor and then commissioned in a joint effort between the telecom and elevator subcontractors. The elevator subcontractor will perform all work from the control panel to the elevator cab, including furnishing of the phone itself.
