ABSTRACT

The enterprise identity described in System Engineering Planning and Enterprise Identity (Grady, 1995), and assumed in this book as discussed in Chapter one, is not intended to be a xed entity but a continuously improving one. Yes, we will have to maintain our process denition for it to have any lasting value. Change is an essential part of the life of a person or a corporation, and we have to accept it and adapt to it. This is the reason for mounting and sustaining a continuous process improvement feature in our process. We have to be careful, however, to avoid a revolutionary change in a continuous stream. There has to be enough sound content to begin with that we can incrementally change our practices so as to preserve the vast amount of the current content at any one change so as to preserve the learning benets from process repetition. Now this may be very hard to do. We wish to have a documented process but be constantly changing that process description.
