ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses Crohn 's disease in the pediatric population and focuses on the distinguishing features of the disorder in this age group. Although there are many similarities with the disease as it occurs in adults, various aspects of diagnosis and management differ in childhood Crohn 's disease. A foremost concern, and one that is unique in the management of children, is the effect of the disease and its treatment on growth. This issue is considered in detail. Various treatment modalities and their possible toxicities are reviewed, with special attention given to the goals of therapy in the pediatric age group.
