ABSTRACT
The flame ionization detector has a very wide dynamic range, has a high sensitivity and, with the exception of about half a dozen small molecular weight compounds, will detect all substances that contain carbon. It is, without doubt, the most useful GC detector available and by far that most commonly used in GC analyses.
