ABSTRACT

Microbes, when able to pass through various phases of disease development (Chapter 3.1), can successfully establish in a susceptible host plant, resulting in the manifestation of various disease symptoms. Under natural conditions, the pathogenicity genes regulate the production of several compounds such as enzymes, toxins and factors inducing susceptibility/resistance of infected plants. These compounds are required for overcoming the structural barriers and the effects of defense-related compounds produced by plants following infection.
